Apple AirPods: iOS 19 brings live translation
While iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 are set to be one of the biggest software updates for iPhones, iPads, and Macs in a long time, according to the latest leak, they will also unlock a new feature for Apple AirPods owners. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is bringing a live translation feature to its wireless earbuds.
According to the report, the new software will allow Apple AirPods to live translate personal conversations. The AirPods will share the workload with paired iPhones running iOS 19. Once activated, the earbuds deliver a live translation of the foreign language directly into your ear canal. You can then respond in your own language, which will be translated and played to the other person through the speakers of the paired iPhone.
However, the feature isn’t entirely new. The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro already offer similar translation features. Unfortunately, the report doesn’t mention which Apple AirPods models will receive the new feature. The Translate app for iOS was launched in 2020 and currently supports 19 languages.
The report also mentions that Apple is working on the AirPods Pro 3 and another model with integrated cameras and Apple Intelligence, which can analyze the user’s surroundings using visual intelligence. The hearing aid update went live in the UK last month.
