Google Pixel 10 gets third camera, Pixel 9a fourth color
Google appears to be keeping the visor design for its Pixel smartphones for another year. This is at least what new CAD renderings of the entire Google Pixel 10 series, shared by OnLeaks and Android Headlines, suggest. Although there are no renderings for the upcoming Pixel Fold yet, the images suggest that no major surprises are in store. The screen size of the Google Pixel 10 is also almost identical to the Pixel 9 at 6.3 inches, and the dimensions are almost identical: 152.8 x 72.0 x 8.6 mm (instead of 8.5 mm), plus 3.4 mm for the camera island.
As you can see, the Google Pixel 10 has a third lens on the back, which, along with the resolution and display type, was the main difference between the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro. Since we don’t know the camera types of the two smartphones, the standard model may have to make do with cheaper hardware. The thermometer is likely reserved for the Pro models.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro is the same size as the standard model. This means it’s also 0.1 mm thicker than the 9 Pro, which should be barely noticeable. Although both displays have a diagonal size of 6.3 inches, this could again result in a 1080p+ resolution for the standard model and 1280p+ for the Pro.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL measures 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm, making it 0.1 mm shorter than the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but the same thickness. The 6.8-inch display is identical to that of last year’s model. However, the midframe on the standard Pixel 10 is matte and glossy on the two Pro models. Google followed the same strategy with the Pixel 9 series.
The Google Pixel 10 series will also receive a new chipset, the Tensor G5. The G5 is being eagerly anticipated, as it’s the first time Google is developing and manufacturing it with TSMC instead of Samsung. TSMC has also been producing for Qualcomm for years, which has provided the flagship chip for several generations, most recently with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Among other things, the G5 is expected to enable 4K HDR video recording at 60 frames per second. Thanks to TSMC’s help, clock speeds and thus the processor’s speed are also expected to increase significantly.
A new Pixel Sense assistant is also expected to be launched with the Google Pixel 10 series. However, the timing could be earlier than expected: Android 16 is scheduled to be released between April and June, and the Pixel 10 models could follow shortly thereafter in August. The previous generations were released in October.
Google Pixel 9a: New case images and new video leaked
There’s also news about the Google Pixel 9a. The affordable Google smartphone is expected to hit shelves at the end of March and has been the subject of several rumors. Quite realistic-looking images from case manufacturer Spigen have just surfaced, and the second video for the 9a is already online.
The Ultra Hybrid Back Cover, which is already available for the rest of the Pixel 9 series, is now also listed for the 9a at Spigen India. The website contains various marketing images for the new model, showing the design from various angles.
In the video, we get another look at the Google Pixel 9a’s oval camera island, which barely protrudes from the back of the phone. The dark color, as is typical for Google, is called Obsidian and is a mix of black and dark gray.
There are rumors that the Pixel 9a will feature Google’s own Tensor G4 chipset from the Pixel 9 series. It will also come with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The 6.28-inch OLED display has an FHD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits. It also features a 48 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultrawide camera, and a 5,100 mAh battery.
