The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to hit the market in July. Today we have the first leaked renderings that supposedly show the upcoming foldable from all sides. These are CAD-based, so minor details can still change. But you get a pretty good idea of what Samsung is doing behind closed doors.

Among other things, Samsung seems to be working quite ambitiously on the size. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is said to be only 4.5 mm thick, and 9.5 mm when folded. These values allegedly already include the camera module. If you leave out the camera island, however, the Fold7 is “more like 9 mm” in terms of thickness, according to the tip.

It is obvious who the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7’s biggest competitor is at the moment – the recently introduced Oppo Find N5 from China. The Find N5 currently holds the title of the world’s thinnest book-style foldable with a thickness of 8.93 mm when folded and 4.21 mm when opened.

Decimal places in the millimeter range are usually barely noticeable in practice, so the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will feel practically the same as the Find N5. For the marketing departments of the respective companies, however, the values do play a role. The aspect ratio is also important for everyday use, but reliable data is still lacking.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is said to measure 158.4 x 143.1 mm when unfolded, which makes it slightly taller and more than 1 cm wider than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold6. When unfolded, the Fold6 is 5.6 mm thick and 12.1 mm thick when closed. The cover display, which was always quite narrow in previous models, should also benefit greatly from the wider aspect ratio.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 also only with 4,400 mAh battery

So much for the good news, now for the bad. According to the leak, Samsung actually wants to limit the battery capacity to 4,400 mAh for another year. In comparison, the Find N5 has a 5,600 mAh in an even thinner case, as described above. In return, the Fold7’s displays are said to be a little larger on the inside, with a size of 8.2 inches, and a little smaller on the outside, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset from Qualcomm expected to be the drive.

As for the cameras, the main camera will be upgraded to the 200 MP model from the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. This is likely to be the same Samsung ISOCELL HP9 chip as in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. There is also a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle and a 10 MP telephoto camera, while the selfie cameras appear to remain unchanged from the Fold6 – a 4 MP under-display camera under the main display and a 10 MP camera in the cover display. On the other hand, we will apparently have to do without a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen, but there may be Android 16 at launch.
