Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Official launch date and new images
There have been numerous rumors, leaks and even official teasers about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra recently. Before it is supposedly unveiled in China on February 26th. The exact launch date in China is still unknown. However, the company has now announced the international date and thus the global launch: March 2nd.
That is the day before the start of the MWC in Barcelona, Spain. Therefore, we assume that Xiaomi’s launch event will also take place there, as it is common for phone manufacturers to hold launch events the weekend before the actual start of the MWC. If history repeats itself in 2024, then expect the regular Xiaomi 15 to make its global debut alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, while the 15 Pro will remain in China.
New Xiaomi 15 Ultra renders
In addition, some new renders of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra have leaked, showing the new two-tone design that is reminiscent of a Leica camera. These are supposedly official renders that come directly from Xiaomi. The new camera arrangement within the huge camera module is clearly visible, as is the Leica co-branding.
The front is almost entirely display, which is slightly curved on all four sides and has a small hole in the top center for the selfie camera. The power and volume buttons are on the right side, as expected. The frame is mostly flat, but curves towards the edges.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra could take over the throne of the best camera phone on the market, according to current rumors. The setup consists of a 50 MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50 MP 3x telephoto lens and a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens with 100 mm.
The drive will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and the power supply will reportedly be a large 6,000 mAh battery that supports 90 watt wired charging and 50 watt wireless charging. The operating system is Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0. The prices should match those of the predecessor Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
