Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Here is the first 200 MP periscope image
Xiaomi is launching two Ultras this month. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is coming later this month, aiming to be one of the fastest electric cars on the market. This launch will likely coincide with the launch of an Ultra of a different kind – the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The Chinese company’s next camera flagship will likely debut first at home in China, and then debut in markets around the world a few days later alongside the base 15 model.
The company hasn’t set an official launch timeframe yet, but has confirmed that an Ultra model will be available later this month. And it has started sharing teasers for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, like the new photo from CEO Lei Jun, which you can see below. According to the caption, it was shot with a 100mm lens with an f/2.6 aperture.
Xiaomi doesn’t mention the resolution, however. Additionally, the image was taken in a 12MP mode, but it actually appears to be a shot of the alleged 200MP periscope camera. This combines a Samsung HP9 sensor with a 4.3x lens, which fits well with the 100mm focal length.
The other cameras that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is said to have include a 50MP main camera (1-inch Sony Lytia 900 sensor), a 50MP 3x telephoto camera (IMX858), and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera (Samsung JN5). Three of these cameras were also installed in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The 200MP periscope, on the other hand, is the big upgrade this year, replacing the 50MP 5x periscope (IMX858 sensor) of the 2024 flagship.
The electric Xiaomi SU7, on the other hand, has now sold 160,000 units. It will be interesting to see if the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also reach this mark.
