Oppo Find N5 / OnePlus Open 2: Live image next to Find N3
The Oppo Find N5 will be available in two weeks. The new foldable device is expected to be officially unveiled by February 20, although the exact date has not been set by Oppo. The ongoing teaser campaign has mainly emphasized the phone’s incredible thinness. However, a recent teaser by Pete Lau himself highlights another aspect. In a post on X, Lau writes that there is no crease at all on the Find N5.
Of course, that’s not entirely true, but the crease is barely noticeable when the display is turned off, even in bright light. When the display is on, the crease will most likely not be noticeable at all. Incidentally, the device to the right of the Oppo Find N5 appears to be a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, to put the proportions into perspective. Accordingly, the Find N5 will be relatively large, just like the Find N3 before it.
According to a second tip on X, the Oppo Find N5 (and the OnePlus Open 2) is only 4.2mm thick when unfolded. To put that in perspective, the Honor Magic V3 is 4.35mm thick when unfolded, making it the thinnest “normal” foldable on the market right now. Only the Huawei Mate XT, which can be folded twice, is below that at 3.6mm.
Interestingly, Oppo has already confirmed that the Find N5 will have an IPX9 rating, as well as IPX6 and IPX8. This means it is protected against hot water, immersion and water jets with increased pressure. The N3 was only rated IPX4 (splash protection). The Oppo Find N5 will also support 50W wireless charging and (not yet officially confirmed) 80W wired charging. Rumor has it that the phone will have a 5,600mAh battery and will be powered by a customized version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
