Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold: First teaser is here
In recent weeks, we’ve heard a lot about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold, the direct competitor to Huawei’s Mate XT. During last week’s Unpacked event, where the Koreans unveiled the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra (and also announced the Galaxy S25 Edge), the company confirmed its plans to actually launch such a device.
During the presentation, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold was unfortunately only seen for a few seconds among other images, as you can see in the middle above. You can clearly see the tri-fold form factor as part of Samsung’s future alongside the Project Moohan XR headset and yet-to-be-announced smart glasses.
According to the latest rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold will be released in a limited edition of only around 200,000 units. In which countries exactly is still completely unclear. The last foldable special model called Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which was released last October, for example, was only sold in Korea and China. The launch is apparently in the third quarter of 2025, between July and September. This fits perfectly with Samsung’s annual foldable event, which last took place in July 2024.
Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold is likely to set a new price record
Samsung Display has already presented two triple-folding displays, one with a Z-like shape like the Mate XT and another that folds like a G. The first concept has the advantage that a display is still available when folded. The second concept has the advantage that no part of the display is exposed when folded, thus protecting the entire panel (foldable displays are much more susceptible to scratches than normal screens).
The Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold from the Unpacked presentation is a Z-style foldable, like the Mate XT. Despite all the technical fascination, however, one can assume that the price will also be on a par with the Mate XT – Huawei is asking €2,550 for it.
