Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 and Note 14 5G launch globally
Xiaomi today brought the Redmi Note 14 to the global stage, four months after the 14 series launched in its home market in China. The phone is essentially the same, with a major improvement in the camera department. We also saw the launch of an LTE-only variant, which is an entirely new handset with a Helio chipset, a different footprint, and a revamped camera setup.
Redmi Note 14 5G
The international variant, just like its Indian and Chinese namesakes (that’s two different phones), runs on the Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, though why it’s better than the regular 7025 remains unclear. Up front, there’s a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. The panel offers a peak brightness of 2,100 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. There’s a single punch hole for the 20MP selfie camera.
On the back, the Redmi Note 14 5G brings a 108MP main camera with OIS based on a 1/1.67-inch sensor with 0.64μm pixels. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro camera. The IP64 dust and water resistance is an improvement over the Redmi Note 13’s IP54 certification. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is something you rarely see even on budget phones anymore.
The Redmi Note 14 comes with a 5,110mAh battery that supports 45Wfii wired charging. Xiaomi said a 45Wfii PD charger is included in the box unless you live in the EU, where shipping an adapter with the phone is now banned.
The phone comes with HyperOS on Android 14 – Xiaomi hasn’t launched a smartphone with the current Android operating system in the global market yet. At least the UI brings some AI features like AI Erase, AI Sky and AI Beautify, and the Gemini app is pre-installed for more generative AI features. The color options of the Redmi Note 14 5G are black, purple and coral green. There are three storage versions – 6/128GB, 8/256GB and 12/512GB, but their availability is market dependent. Redmi Note 14 4G
The LTE variant of the Redmi Note 14 is definitely a downgrade in terms of performance. It is powered by the over 2.5 year old MediaTek Helio G99 chip. The cameras are also significantly slimmed down. Xiaomi has kept the 108MP main camera with the 1/1.67-inch sensor and 0.64μm pixels, but it lacks OIS. There’s no ultra-wide-angle camera either – the second camera is a 2MP depth sensor and the third is a 2MP macro camera. At least the front camera is identical at 20MP.
On the front, the Redmi Note 14 4G keeps the 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate, as well as Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The panel offers a peak brightness of 1,800 nits and is certified by TÜV Rheinland for low blue light levels. The battery is slightly larger at 5,500mAh, and the charging speed is slightly lower at 33W. Here too, the EU has eliminated the charger.
The Redmi Note 14 4G is IP54 dust and splash resistant and also has a 3.5mm audio jack. It also runs Android 14 with HyperOS and some basic AI features. It comes in black, purple, blue or lime green and has three storage options – 6/128GB, 8/128GB and 8/256GB. The base variant costs €200/£180 while the mid-range variant is €230/£230.
