It took quite a while for Google’s Find My Device network to get up and running. It’s now firing on all cylinders and the company’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series support the Find My Device locator feature even when they’re turned off. This is obviously a very useful feature if your phone is stolen. And now another device has joined the fray, and that is the OnePlus 13.

The OnePlus 13 has been confirmed to support Find My Device locating even when it’s turned off. You can see the message on the screenshots of the power menu above and on the Find My Device network settings page. The feature is enabled by Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7900 system in the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. FastConnect 7900 supports Powered Off Finding, but it’s up to the device manufacturer to implement the feature.

OnePlus 13 and 13R get four major Android updates

The OnePlus 13 and the cheaper OnePlus 13R are no different in terms of software support, by the way. Both OnePlus smartphones get four major Android updates, so they will still experience Android 19. In addition, both models will receive security updates for six years, so you’ll be well covered in that regard until 2031.

This update promise is not what Google and Samsung guarantee for their respective flagship devices. But OnePlus stated almost a year ago that according to their data, most users use their smartphones for a maximum of four years. Therefore, the effort does not seem to be financially worthwhile. Add to that the fact that older smartphones with newer software tend to slow down significantly.

OnePlus announces 180-day exchange plan for the OnePlus 13 series in India

In addition, OnePlus has announced a one-time free 180-day exchange plan for buyers of the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R in India. As the name suggests, it offers a one-time free phone replacement within the first 180 days of purchase if the device has hardware issues. These include issues with the battery, motherboard, display, and back panel. To request a replacement, customers need to visit OnePlus’ authorized service center to confirm eligibility for a replacement and receive a new device.

OnePlus says the service is free for OnePlus 13 and 13R buyers. However, there is a catch – it is only offered to those who bought the device between January 10, 2025 and February 13, 2025. Latecomers, however, can purchase the one-time 180-day replacement plan for INR 2,599 (€29/$30) (INR 2,299 on the OnePlus 13R).
