Huawei introduced the nova 12i, nova 12s, and nova 12 SE in March 2024. Only the 12i was a new device, the others were variants of existing models. Now the company has quietly added the Huawei nova 13i to its website. Apparently, not much has changed since the 12i.

The Huawei nova 13i boasts a 108MP main camera (like its predecessor), but that’s the only impressive camera on board – there’s also a 2MP depth sensor on the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. And because of the chipset, the main camera is limited to 1080p video at 30 frames per second.

That chipset is the Snapdragon 680 from way back in late 2021. It’s a 4G chipset, and it supports exactly the same LTE bands as on the 12i. And here, too, there’s 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The only thing that’s changed is the new EMUI 14.2 operating system version.

The Huawei nova 13i comes with a 6.7-inch LCD display with 1080p+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It has the Always-On Display functionality, which is a bit unusual for LCDs, but also not new. The 8MP selfie camera is punched into the display, while the fingerprint reader is mounted on the side.

The Huawei smartphone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge Turbo charging – in half an hour, it can bring a dead battery up to 62%. The 13i comes in blue and white, both with gold accents, notably the Super Star Orbit ring around the camera. The Huawei nova 13i is already available in Mexico for 6,000 MXN for 256GB (280 €/290 $). It is also already available in Malaysia for a similar price of 1,300 MYR.
