Affordable vivo Y200+ with 50 MP camera is here
vivo has just launched a new smartphone – the vivo Y200+. It is part of the somewhat confusing Y series, which has seen no fewer than six models in the Y100 generation. The Y200 family has already had seven members. With today’s new addition, there are eight.
The vivo Y200+ would logically be launched as an update of the Y100+. However, the two smartphones are identical in most respects. Worse still, the differences in technical terms include various downgrades rather than improvements. A vivo press spokesperson is welcome to comment on what they were thinking in the Far East.
The vivo Y200+, for example, has a smaller 6.68-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,608 pixels and the same 120 Hz refresh rate. The 6,000 mAh battery with 44 watts of wired charging is identical, as is the 50 MP main camera and 2 MP sensor on the back. The 5 MP selfie camera, on the other hand, was 8 MP on the predecessor. The IP64 dust and splash resistance, on the other hand, remains the same, as does the same thickness of 7.99 mm and the same weight of 199 g.
The Y200+, however, has a different design on the back. Whether that justifies the launch of a new model is another matter. At least the speakers have become 300% louder, so there is a lonely upgrade after all.
The vivo Y200+ has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage and runs on vivo’s Origin OS 4 interface. This is only used on China-exclusive vivo phones, so the new model will probably not leave the Asian country. Prices start at 1,099 CNY (145 €/150 $).
