Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Plus for the first time with zoom camera

The Nothing Phone (2a) and the (2a) Plus both run on MediaTek chipsets. Their successors are rumored to be switching to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset instead. Now a new report seems to confirm this move. The leak is based on clues found in the latest Nothing OS 3.0 builds, which are already based on Android 15. The codename of the Nothing Phone (3a) is “asteroids,” while the (3a) Plus is aptly called “asteroids_plus.”

The CMF Phone 2 is also coming in 2025 and is codenamed “Galaga.” It will apparently also use a MediaTek chip. Interestingly, the Nothing Phone (3a) may be equipped with a telephoto camera, while the (3a) Plus could go a step further with a periscope zoom camera.
If it does happen, the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus would be the first Nothing phone ever to feature a periscope telephoto camera. These would also be the first Nothing models with dedicated zoom cameras, as all previous devices featured dual setups with a main camera and an ultra-wide-angle camera.
Additionally, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus are also said to have eSIM support, another first for the brand. In addition to the eSIM, there will also be one or two physical SIM cards. The cheaper CMF Phone 2, on the other hand, will not have eSIM support.
