Xiaomi announces Redmi Watch 5 and Buds 6 Pro
The Redmi K80 series is official and the Xiaomi sub-brand announced a new smartwatch and TWS earphones alongside its latest and greatest smartphones. The Redmi Watch 5 and Redmi Buds 6 Pro are here.
Redmi Watch 5
The logical successor to last year’s Redmi Watch 4, the Redmi Watch 5 features a larger 2.07-inch AMOLED screen that now peaks at 1,500 nits. Xiaomi has also trimmed the bezels and kept the 60Hz refresh rate.
The Redmi Watch 5 features an aluminum frame and a metal dial on the right side that helps you navigate the UI. It is one of the first wearables to launch with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 out of the box. Xiaomi also offers an eSIM version that lets you make calls and send messages on supported platforms.
Xiaomi says the Redmi Watch 5’s new heart rate sensor offers 97.1% accuracy and you also get the standard blood oxygen, sleep and stress tracking feature. The watch also has a built-in GNSS positioning sensor and tracks your usual sports and activities.
The 550mAh battery in the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 is now rated to last up to 24 days with normal usage and up to 12 days in Always-On Display mode. The Redmi Watch 5 comes in black and silver and costs CNY 599 (€78/$82). The eSIM version comes in titanium silver and costs CNY 799 (€104/$110).
Redmi Buds 6 Pro
The Redmi Buds 6 Pro comes with 11mm titanium-coated dynamic drivers paired with 6.7mm piezoelectric ceramic drivers. Xiaomi has also updated the active noise cancellation (ANC) that can drown out up to 55dB of noise. Buds 6 Pro pair via Bluetooth 5.3 and support LHDC 5.0 and LC3 audio codecs. Battery life of the headphones and their case is up to 36 hours.
Xiaomi also offers a Redmi Buds 6 Pro Gaming Edition that offers 20ms latency and supports the LHDC Lossless Audio codec via its dedicated USB-C adapter.
The Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Pro comes in Jade Green, White and Black. It is priced at 399 CNY (€52/$55). The Redmi Buds 6 Pro Gaming Edition costs 499 CNY (€65/$68).
