Samsung Galaxy A56: New camera design and 45 watt charging
The Samsung Galaxy A56 leaked today in CAD-based renderings. As you can see below, the images show a device that is easily recognizable as a Samsung smartphone. Nevertheless, the images also contain a new detail for the A5x series – the camera island.
Previously, there were three individual camera cutouts directly in the glass back, as was recently the case with the Samsung Galaxy A55. Instead, the three lenses are now housed in a larger black oval island. However, that is the only major change to the Samsung Galaxy A56 in terms of design, if you don’t count the bottom bezel. The latter does seem to have shrunk a little. On the other hand, these are still renderings, so the design shown should be treated with a grain of salt.
With the change, Samsung could be trying to differentiate the mid-range price range from the high-end segment. Because if the previous leaks about the Galaxy S25 series are correct, nothing will change here in terms of the individual camera cutouts. The main cameras are not expected to change – the same combination of 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra-wide angle and 5 MP macro camera as the predecessor is expected to be installed.
Samsung is also known for not following the trend of ultra-fast charging speeds. For several years, the Korean company has only equipped a handful of its flagship models with 45 watt charging capacities, while the majority of its Galaxy range had to make do with 25 watts. This also includes by far the most expensive model in the entire portfolio – the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6. However, this year seems to be a turning point. After the mid-range model Galaxy M55/C55/F55 was already equipped with 45 watts, it is now time for the Galaxy A series. And first up is the Samsung Galaxy A56, which has already been certified in China with support for 45 watts.
Samsung Galaxy A56 with Exynos 1580 chipset
In addition, the Samsung Galaxy A56 will also get a new chipset – the recently introduced Exynos 1580. The chip has a three-cluster CPU with a 2.91 GHz Cortex-A720 main core, three 2.6 GHz Cortex-A720 performance cores and four 1.95 GHz Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. There is also a new GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. The Galaxy A56 will also already ship with Android 15 and will be optionally available with 8 GB of RAM.
Apart from that, according to the leaks so far, the Samsung Galaxy A56 will get a better selfie camera. The Galaxy A55 was launched in March this year, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the A56 were to be officially released in March 2025.
