Robust Honor X9c with 6,600 mAh battery and 108 MP camera introduced
Last year, Honor introduced the X9b. Now, the next step is here, the Honor X9c. It’s billed as Honor’s toughest phone yet, and it has a bigger battery than the B variant. Honor also claims drop protection for a height of up to 2 meters (6.6 feet). The exterior is scratch-resistant and has been tested by rubbing with steel wool 3,000 times. The smartphone can also withstand extreme temperatures of -30°C to 55°C (-22°F to 131°F).
And it’s IP65M rated, the “M” apparently standing for 360° protection against water jets. While Honor has some IP69-certified models, it’s the combination of these things that makes the Honor X9c the toughest of the bunch. The other highlight is the battery. It now has a capacity of 6,600 mAh, 800 mAh more than the already very well-equipped X9b with its 5,800 mAh cell. According to Honor, this is enough for almost 26 hours of online video playback. The charging speed has also been increased, from 35 to 66 watts.
The rest of the features of the Honor X9c are quite similar to those of the X9b. It has a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with a resolution of 1,224 x 2,700 pixels. The panel reproduces 10-bit colors (8+2 bit) with higher brightness than before – up to 4,000 nits. There is also eye-friendly 3,840 Hz PWM dimming.
On the back of the Honor X9c there is a 108 MP camera with a 1/1.67 inch sensor. This has 0.64 µm pixels, which are combined into 1.92 µm pixels using 9:1 binning. Alternatively, you can also opt for three times lossless in-sensor zoom. The camera has an f/1.75 lens with OIS and supports 4K video recording. The other camera on the back is a 5 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture. On the front, a 16 MP camera with an f/2.45 aperture takes selfies and records 1080p videos.
5G is also on board thanks to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, the same chip as in the X9b. The Honor phone comes in three storage configurations: 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB and runs MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14 out of the box. Additional connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC. Positioning is handled via GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou. There is no 3.5mm jack, but there are stereo speakers with 300% volume boost.
Honor X9c pricing
The Honor X9c is now available in several regions, including Malaysia, where the 12/256GB model costs MYR1,500 (€316/$345) and the 12/512GB model costs MYR1,700. In Singapore, you can already pre-order a 12/256 GB model for 450 SGD (313 €/340 $).
