Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE coming next year, Fold Special Edition sold out

There have long been rumors that Samsung would launch a cheaper entry into the Z series, and it’s almost certain that it won’t be a Z Fold. A new rumor suggests that a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE is planned instead, which could launch sometime in April alongside the upcoming Galaxy S25 Slim.

The new report doesn’t go into detail about the specs or pricing of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip SE. It does mention a simultaneous launch of the Galaxy Z Fold7, which should also include the Z Flip7. Both models have been launched together since their launch over six years ago.
Samsung is rumored to launch two Folds next year. A Galaxy Z Fold6 FE or Fold6 Lite has also been the subject of repeated leaks and rumors, but recently these have tended to be more along the lines of “project canceled.” A more likely scenario is therefore a regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 as the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold6 and a new high-end version as the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sold out in record time
This Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which Samsung introduced a good two weeks ago, is apparently enjoying great popularity. With larger displays, a thinner profile and a 200 MP main camera, the folding phone is a significant upgrade over the normal Fold6. The Samsung foldable went on sale in its home country of South Korea over the weekend and was sold out within just 10 minutes.

According to insiders, sales began seven hours late because the company needed time to “estimate production volumes and decide on the quantity to be released.” Demand was so high that normal retailers and mobile operators were unable to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition due to “stock shortages.” And this despite the extremely high price of 2,789,600 KRW, which is equivalent to €1,850 / $2,050. However, Samsung did not disclose how many units were included in the first batch.
Unfortunately, Samsung is apparently not planning to release the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition worldwide. It will apparently only be launched on the Chinese market under the name Samsung W25 with a black and gold design together with China Telecom. Given the extremely high demand, however, they will hopefully reconsider this strategy in South Korea.
