Samsung Galaxy A56 gets long-overdue camera upgrade
Samsung only launched the Galaxy A55 in March 2024. Nevertheless, the Koreans are obviously already working hard on its successor, which we assume will be released sometime in the first quarter of next year. Today, the first camera details for the Samsung Galaxy A56 have leaked out and there is some good news and some bad news.
First of all, the positive thing is that the Samsung Galaxy A56 will get a revised selfie camera. Most likely, a new 12 MP sensor will replace the old 32 MP chip. But that’s about time – the 32 MP selfie camera has been in the A5x series since the Galaxy A51. When that came out, it was still 2019.
It is unclear whether the new camera will be identical to the 12 MP selfie camera in the Galaxy S24 series. Because both the Galaxy S24 and the S24+ and the S24 Ultra have cameras with exactly the same technical data on paper. Either way, it will definitely be an upgrade compared to what the A5x series have had to offer so far.
While a new, better selfie camera is good news, it seems to be the only positive news. This means that the Samsung Galaxy A56 will have to make do with the exact same 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera and 5MP macro camera as its predecessor. So anyone hoping for a telephoto camera in Samsung’s best-selling smartphone series may have to wait until the A57 series.
