Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro: The first official pictures are here
We were actually expecting the launch of the Xiaomi 15 series on October 23rd. But now it looks like the launch will be delayed a bit, until October 29th at 7pm Chinese time. The date was announced on Weibo by company CEO Lu Weibing.
In the meantime, we can enjoy some high-quality press renders, courtesy of tech blogger Kartikey Singh on X. Singh also had a few technical specifications with him. According to him, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will be 8.35mm thin and weigh 213g. That’s 10g less than its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
The display is Micro Quad Curved and covered with Xiaomi’s highly stable second-generation Longjing Glass. According to Xiaomi CEO Lu Weibing, the camera island has a ceramic lens deco design. The Xiaomi 15 has a 6.36-inch display with only 1.38mm wide bezels on all four sides. Therefore, it is likely to compete with another flagship that is also fighting for the narrowest bezels ever – the upcoming Oppo Find X8.
In addition to the design and camera layout, the teasers revealed another point. The Xiaomi 15 models will be the first Xiaomi smartphones to use an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor instead of an optical chip. Ultrasonic technology not only works faster but is also more accurate. In addition, ultrasound does not require additional light to recognize the fingerprint, which is very practical in the dark.
By the way, the first renderings of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra appeared on the Internet just a few hours ago. The camera design is completely different, as with the previous models. What all models have in common, however, is the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which has already shown extremely high performance in the first benchmarks.
