Xiaomi 15 Ultra: First look at the new camera design
The first images of the Xiaomi 15 Pro surfaced earlier this month. Spyshots and a Geekbench test came to light shortly after, so the official unveiling should be imminent later this month. Rumors suggest that the event could also feature a sneak peek of the highly anticipated Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Thanks to Smartprix and tipster Yogesh Brar, we have the very first look at the Chinese company’s next top model today, complete with fresh renders that reveal the design and some important details.
If the new renders of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra are to be believed, the design is significantly different from last year. The focus is on a striking, round camera module on the back that houses four lenses. As usual with the more expensive Xiaomi phones, you can also find Leica branding on the back, which indicates high-quality camera lenses.
In the top right of the circle is the periscope module. This periscope zoom lens is a big upgrade thanks to a new sensor – the Samsung ISOCELL HP9 with a size of 1/1.4 inches. The resolution is 200 MP and the optical zoom is 4.3 times. There is also a large aperture of f/2.6. The main lens uses a 50 MP sensor from Sony.
The other two lenses below the ultra-wide-angle camera and the 2x telephoto lens are also combined with 50 MP sensors by Xiaomi. The two flash LEDs are arranged horizontally at the top. Additionally, we can expect a 32 MP selfie camera on the front. The Xiaomi logo has been placed vertically at the bottom left. According to the leak, Xiaomi has reserved some resources internally for the upcoming ultra flagship and promises major hardware and software improvements. A special focus is said to be on improving HDR performance.
Specifications
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to have a 6.7-inch LTPO micro quad-curved display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution. It will be powered by the just-launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which has been producing one record after another for days.
The battery size is expected to increase from 5,300 in the China version to 6,000 mAh in the global variant. The wired charging speed will likely be capped at 90 watts, but the wireless charging speed is expected to increase to 80 watts. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also run on the new HyperOS 2 based on Android 15.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra launches in February 2025
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch in India in February 2025 along with the Xiaomi 15. The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will likely be launched in China at the end of October, making them the first Snapdragon 8 Elite devices on the market. The Ultra will not be released until February 2025, initially in China and India.
