Honor Magic7 series: Quad camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Honor will introduce MagicOS 9.0. We will also get a sneak peek at the new Honor Magic7 series and confirmation that Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset will be the powerhouse. The combination of Magic7 and MagicOS 9.0 is said to deliver the “first real-time NPU graphics rendering for mobile games” and the “industry’s first on-device AI agent for an open ecosystem.” Apparently, the Chinese company’s marketing department is currently at its best.
The official description is a bit vague, but generative AI is used to reduce the load on the GPU. And thus, of course, to reduce temperature and power consumption. This also promises better image quality. It is not clear whether frames rendered at a lower resolution are upscaled or new frames are generated, or both. But we will have to wait for the answer until the official launch of the Honor Magic7 series on Wednesday next week.
This so-called AI agent is called YOYO Assistant, by the way, as you can read in the image above. It will have a wide range of uses: travel planning, including booking tickets, calendar planning, notification management, transferring files between apps, and more. It will also handle practical things like canceling unwanted subscriptions.
To do this, you can simply ask YOYO which apps have an active subscription with automatic renewal. The system will then scan your apps, display a list, and allow you to delete the apps you no longer need. The AI agent even knows how you like your coffee best and can direct you directly to the order page of your local cafe.
Honor’s partnership with Qualcomm also goes beyond smartphones with the so-called MagicRing. No, it’s not a smart ring. Instead, it’s a technology that works across different devices, apps, and services. For example, Windows on Snapdragon-powered ARM PCs can generate detailed images from simple sketches using Cocreator. You can then access Cocreator via MagicRing, for example, from a tablet such as the Honor MagicPad 2.

Honor also showed a brief glimpse of one of the new models, probably the Honor Magic7 Pro. Here is the teaser video, which shows the characteristic shape of the camera island that we already know from the Magic6. However, the successor has four lenses instead of three. The color is called Moon Shadow Gray and was inspired by the first science fiction film of all time, A Trip to the Moon.
What the video doesn’t show is the front of the Honor Magic7 Pro, but you can see it in the picture above. Like the Magic6 Pro, the Magic7 Pro also has a pill-shaped hole with a 3D ToF sensor for secure facial recognition.
The main camera setup on the back offers a six-fold optical zoom and up to 100-fold hybrid zoom. The top left module has the square lens typical of periscope telephoto cameras.
