Asus ROG Phone 9 coming next month
With the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset now officially revealed, smartphone makers around the globe are starting to announce launch dates for their upcoming flagship phones. This includes Asus, which just announced an event to unveil the ROG Phone 9 series. The ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro will launch on November 19 at 12pm CET (6am ET/7pm Taipei time) at an event at Asus headquarters in Taiwan’s capital Taipei.
In keeping with this, Asus has released the first official images of the ROG Phone 9. You can see familiar features – a pentagonal camera module with three sensors and an LED flash, as well as a gamer-style back with ROG branding and LED lights. You’d almost think it’s still the ROG Phone 8 series.
On the front, there’s a flat display with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The right side of the Asus ROG Phone 9 also has pressure-sensitive AirTrigger buttons with ROG branding.
Above, under the event title, you can also read the current slogan “AI on, game on” for the launch event. Accordingly, Asus, like every other cell phone manufacturer, will also be touting some new AI features, but there are currently no details on this topic. Hopefully there will be a few more teasers for the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro in the days leading up to the event.
