Amazon introduces Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition with color E-Ink display
Amazon has unveiled a total of four new Kindles without making much of a mention of it. The most notable addition is the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition – the brand’s first e-reader to feature a color E Ink display.
It’s joined by the second-generation Amazon Kindle Scribe with several new AI features, as well as new Paperwhite and entry-level Kindle models.
Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition features a 7-inch display with a new light guide using nitride LEDs. Amazon claims it delivers paper-like colors with great contrast. This is great for reading comics, looking at photos, and highlighting words with different colors.
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is also waterproof, offers up to eight weeks of battery life, and wireless charging. It’s priced at $279.99/€289.99/£269.99, and shipping starts October 30.
Kindle Scribe (2024)
The Amazon Kindle Scribe (2024) has a 10.2-inch, 300ppi screen with new AI features. These include the ability to summarize text into bullet points and convert handwritten notes to text.
The new Kindle Scribe has an Active Canvas that retains book notes when you change the layout or font size. Amazon also introduced a premium stylus that has a soft tip. It’s priced at $449.99/€449.99/£429.99, with shipping starting December 4.
Kindle Paperwhite (2024)
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite has a 7-inch E Ink panel with a new oxide thin-film transistor that offers an improved contrast ratio for sharper text. Amazon’s best-selling e-reader also turns pages 25% faster and is fully waterproof.
Prices start at $159.99/€169.99/£159.99 for the standard edition with 16GB storage and go up to $199.99 for the Signature edition with 32GB storage and wireless charging.
Kindle (2024)
Amazon’s latest entry-level Kindle is almost identical to the 2022 model, but has faster page turns and 16GB storage. It’s priced at $109.99/€119.99/£104.99.
