Redmi K80 / Xiaomi Poco F7: Top hardware, but higher price
Redmi’s flagship K series, which will be launched globally as the Poco F7 series, is set to see a new addition in the coming weeks. And now the first information about it has finally surfaced from various sources. First, Redmi’s Wang Teng teased the fact that the Redmi K80 series has been “greatly improved” not only in terms of performance but also in another area. Unfortunately, he did not reveal what exactly he was thinking of. Apparently, however, the K80 devices are set to be significantly different from many of the competition’s devices that will be launched before it.
He also hinted at the release date of the Redmi K80 series, saying that people who want to change their smartphone at the end of the year should wait for Redmi’s new flagships.
According to well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K80 series will see price increases, with the Pro’s price increasing the most. That’s not good news, but on the other hand, he also revealed that the top model in the K80 series will have Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, which will probably be called Snapdragon 8 Elite, under the hood.
There’s also a 6,000 mAh battery that charges via cable at a fast 100 watts. The last leak, however, mentioned 5,500 mAh. Either way, a higher price for a significantly larger battery could possibly be worth it for many customers. The Xiaomi Poco F6 has the industry-standard capacity of 5,000 mAh, just like the Poco F6 Pro.
If you’re wondering why you’ve never heard of the Redmi K series – Xiaomi only sells these devices under this name in China. Internationally, the devices are divided into the Poco F series and the Xiaomi T models, as was recently the case with the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro. Either way – news of rising prices is not good news for the Poco F-series budget flagship killers.
