It’s finally here. After the disappointing launch of iOS 18 on Monday without Apple Intelligence features, the AI features are finally available to the general public and not just developers as of today. And that is if you are willing to try iOS 18.1 or iPadOS 18.1. The first public beta after the closed developer phase is here.

Keep in mind that the beta version can have numerous issues and bugs. So installing it on your main device is generally not recommended. If you want to try your luck, you need to go to Settings > General > Software Update. Tap the info icon next to the Beta Updates option. Then the first public beta version of iOS 18.1 will arrive over the air like any other update. The same process applies to iPadOS 18.1.

However, you won’t get all of the previously announced Apple Intelligence features with this version. They will continue to be rolled out gradually until 2025. Currently, you have the ability to transcribe and summarize phone calls, email prioritization, smart replies, and notification summaries. Gestures for cleaning up photos, writing tools (proofread, summarize, rewrite), and the redesigned Siri are also there, including the ability to tap on it.

Other features like ChatGPT integration, Image Playground, Genmoji, and Siri that better understands personal context are not available at this time.
