Oppo Find N5 / OnePlus Open 2 to be extremely thin
Oppo’s next book-style foldable device is coming soon, says a now-deleted post by prolific Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station. It will be called the Oppo Find N5 and will be the successor to last October’s Find N3. The company will most likely skip model number 4 due to tetraphobia, which is quite popular in the Asian region.
The Oppo Find N5 is unsurprisingly said to have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset under the hood, the company’s next flagship chip. It features a 2K+ main display and a 50MP main camera with a Sony sensor, as well as a periscope telephoto camera. The setup sits on a circular camera island, as is usual for Oppo.
The Oppo Find N5 will be just over 9mm thick, coming very close to the Honor Magic V3, the current record holder for the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. Whether the Find N5 can take that title remains to be seen. But even if not, the sub-10mm thickness is still very impressive for a foldable device.
Rumor has it that the Find N5 also gets water protection. The Find N3 was only IPX4 certified for splash protection. In addition, the familiar three-level alarm slider is back. The N5 is rumored to be released between January and March. It should launch only in China and will later hit the global market under the name OnePlus Open 2.
