Apple iPhone 16, Watch X and AirPods 4: What to expect on September 10
Apple is reportedly targeting September 10th as the date for its next hardware event, where the iPhone 16 series, the Watch Series 10 or Watch X and the next AirPods will make their debut. The information comes from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, a normally very reliable source for Apple-related rumors. If the event does indeed take place on September 10th, then the new devices would go on sale on September 20th. This is what “people familiar with the situation” would claim, while Apple itself has so far neither given a launch date nor a comment on this report.
iPhone 16 series
The iPhone 16 models will all get a new capture button and also some camera improvements. Of course, there will also be new chipsets and slightly larger displays. Of course, the new Apple Intelligence functions are also on board.
There is also new information on the sales targets for the Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. The Elec has received a tip from the supply chain that reveals Apple’s production plans. According to this, Apple initially wants to produce around 90.1 million iPhones, slightly more than last year’s target of 86.2 million. The company still plans to produce more Pro Max models. These will make up 37% of the total mix, or 33.2 million units. That’s significantly more than the 24.2 million Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max from last year. Of the regular 16 Pro models, there should be around 26.6 million units (30%), compared to 21.8 million iPhone 15 Pro models last year.
The regular Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will make up 33% of total production. The standard model will see a slight increase from 21.8 million units to 24.5 million (27%). The 16 Plus drops to just 5.8 million units (6%), making it the only model with a drop in production. For reference, the planned production of the iPhone 15 Plus was 8.5 million last year.
Of course, plans can change at any time depending on demand. But it is clear that demand for the Plus model is decreasing with each passing year. The rumors that Apple will replace it with another iPhone variant in the future could therefore be quite true. The increase in iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max production, on the other hand, means a further increase in sales and profits for Apple. On the one hand, these are the most expensive models in the company’s portfolio, and on the other hand, the Pros also deliver larger profit margins.
The Apple Watch X or Watch Series 10 is also set to launch on September 10. It is said to combine a larger display with a thinner case. Finally, Apple is also planning new affordable AirPods 4, which will reportedly be available in two models. One of them is coming onto the market for the first time in the non-Pro series with active noise cancellation.
