Apple iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: These are the battery capacities

Apple launches its new smartphones in September, as usual. A rumor hot off the press today from China now brings us the exact battery capacities for the two top models – the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The former is said to be equipped with a 3,577 mAh cell. That would be an increase of just over 9% compared to the 3,274 mAh cell of the iPhone 15 Pro. The battery of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to offer 4,676 mAh, an increase of a good 5% compared to the 4,441 mAh of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The reason for the increase could be a new battery technology, according to a leak from May. This enables a higher energy density in the Apple iPhone 16 Pro, thus packing more battery capacity into the same space.
Nevertheless, these are of course not big leaps. But it is good to see that Apple is constantly improving in this regard. Even these small increases in physical capacity could lead to a longer battery life for the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. At least in combination with possible improvements in chipset and display efficiency.
In addition, rumors say that the charging speeds of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will also increase. Both iPhones are said to charge with 40 watts via cable and 20 watts wirelessly via MagSafe. That would also be a welcome increase compared to the 27 and 15 watts of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, respectively.
