Nothing Phone (2a) Plus with 50 MP selfie camera and 50W charging is here
Nothing’s Phone (2a) only launched in March and already has a successor. The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is a souped-up version of the Phone (2a) with an updated chipset, a new 50MP selfie camera and two new color options – metallic gray and a new shade of black.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 7350 Plus chipset is the big new addition. It’s an overclocked version of the Phone (2a’s Dimensity 7200 Pro, developed in collaboration with MediaTek exclusively for the Phone (2a) Plus. The new chip features an eight-core CPU with two Cortex-A715 cores running at 3.0GHz alongside six Cortex-A510 units running at 2.0GHz. The Mali-G610 MC4 GPU is identical but now runs at 1.3GHz. Nothing promises 10% faster CPU performance and 30% more GPU performance.
On to the second big change – the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus gets a new 50 MP front camera, which replaces the 32 MP front camera of the Phone (2a). The new image sensor now supports 4K video recording at up to 30 frames per second. It is still located in the punch-hole cutout of the 6.7 inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. On the back, however, there is the same 50 MP main camera (24 mm) and the well-known 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
The new model also has a 5,000 mAh battery that charges via cable at 50 watts. That’s 5 watts more than the Phone (2a). The software side is covered by Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14. You also get ChatGPT integration and a new News Reporter widget. The latter reads you news in the voice of Nothing CFO Tim Holbrow. This feature is also available for other Nothing phones via the Nothing Widgets app from the Google Play Store.
Nothing Phone (2a) Plus pricing
The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus starts at €399/$399/£399 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Pre-orders start today via nothing.tech. The Nothing store in Soho, London, will stock the Phone (2a) Plus from August 3 at 11:00 BST. Buyers in the US will be able to get their hands on the device from August 7 at 9:00 ET through Nothing’s US beta program. Nothing plans to announce further market availability in September.
