Next Apple iPhone SE to launch with iPhone 17 series
Apple hasn’t even launched the iPhone 16 lineup yet, which is most likely to happen in September. Despite that, we’ve already heard regular rumors about the Apple iPhone 17 series, which is set to be unveiled in September next year. Now, another leak from prolific Chinese tipster Ice Universe sheds some light on all members of the family and adds a bonus detail about the next iPhone SE. The latter will apparently have an OLED display for the first time as the cheapest iPhone.
The “regular” Apple iPhone 17 will feature an LTPO display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for the first time. This exact type of display has been around on Android flagships for a few years now. This also creates the possibility of adding always-on display support, says Ice Universe. However, Apple could decide to limit AODs to the Pro models. The iPhone 17 will also get 8 GB of RAM and the A19 chipset, according to the tip.
The Apple iPhone 17 Pro instead gets the A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM and three 48MP cameras – wide angle, telephoto and ultra-wide angle. Finally, the previously rumored iPhone 17 Slim, which may also be called iPhone 17 Ultra, will be a completely redesigned ultra-thin model. One inevitably thinks of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Even if a design as slim as possible did not play a major role here.
The leak mentions no other member of the family as being completely redesigned. So we assume that only the Apple iPhone 17 Slim / Ultra will introduce a new design language. It is possible that this will also come to the other models from 2026.
