Apple iPhone 16 Pro with the world’s thinnest bezels, iPhone 17 Slim to be more expensive than iPhone 17 Pro Max

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro is said to have the thinnest bezels in the world, while the iPhone 17 Slim will be the thinnest smartphone overall.

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro is expected to launch in September and will feature the thinnest screen bezels ever, according to two new reports from Chinese sources. One of them even gave us the exact measurements. The iPhone 16 Pro’s bezels will be 1.2mm, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will go a step further at 1.15mm.

For reference, the same source puts the iPhone 15 Pro’s bezels at 1.71mm. So while the difference won’t be huge, it will be pretty noticeable when you look at these devices side by side. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will thus outperform the Galaxy S24 series. Just like all other devices that have launched so far in history. The goal of a truly “bezel-less” front is getting closer.

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro is expected to adopt the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 5x tetraprism telephoto lens. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to get a new 48 megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a battery with higher energy density instead. In addition, iOS 18 will finally bring the big AI update to Apple smartphones.

Apple iPhone 17 Slim

In addition, there is already movement on the next generation – the iPhone 17 series. We have already heard that Apple is revamping its iPhone lineup next year, retiring the Plus model and launching a Slim model instead. Until now, however, we thought that the iPhone 17 Slim would be positioned similarly to the Plus, only thinner.

According to a new report, that will not be the case. Instead, the iPhone 17 Slim will be the most premium member of the range and thus even more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Extremely thin devices come at a price, as Apple has just proven with the new iPad Pro 13, the thinnest tablet ever.

Multiple sources have reportedly described the iPhone 17 Slim as an iPhone X-level leap in design language for Apple. And by 2025, it will definitely be time for a major design update. The design isn’t final yet, and Apple is apparently still considering several options. But it’s expected to be “significantly thinner” than any iPhone before it, and may have an aluminum body. The Dynamic Island will be smaller, while the camera module on the back will likely move to the center. The display size isn’t yet clear, this report says. Although an earlier rumor suggested the iPhone 17 Slim’s display will be smaller than the iPhone 15 Plus’.

The reason the Plus model is being discontinued after this year is simple, by the way – sales are disappointing. The new Slim iPhone could instead act as a premium technology pioneer and drive sales back up.
