Google announced an event for August 13 a few weeks ago, but did not reveal how many products would be launched on that day. Rumors and leaks suggested that the internet search giant would unveil the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Now Google has just confirmed that the next Fold is happening, giving us a first look at the smartphone while also confirming its launch on August 13. You can watch the teaser below.

Google’s Indian branch also posted a teaser on its X account. It shows the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold in a different color and also confirms that it will debut in India on August 14.

In a second teaser, Google showed the Pixel 9 Pro and also confirmed the unveiling date on August 13th.

The leak includes both the front-facing and main cameras, and we can see that Google is preparing a major overhaul for all devices. However, the primary sensor remains the same as in the Pixel 8 series. That goes for the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold as well.

The camera sensors will once again come from Sony or Samsung, with the Pro duo getting a 50MP IMX858 chip on the front and rear. The age-old IMX386 that was responsible for ultra-wide-angle shots is finally gone, meaning image resolution and size will increase.

Interestingly, the Google Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL will get the new telephoto sensor, while the 9 Pro Fold will stick with the old sensor. That could be because the foldable smartphone is set to be 2mm thinner than its predecessor, and there was no physical space for a larger sensor.

The source also revealed that Google may finally enable 8K video recording. In theory, both the Tensor G3 chipset and the Samsung GNK sensor were already 8K capable. Therefore, the right software was apparently missing for a long time.

Unfortunately, last week there was bad news about the prices of all four Pixel 9 phones. According to this, all models in Europe will be more expensive compared to last year’s flagships. There are still four weeks until the market launch, so we’ll be on the lookout for further leaks.
