Samsung Galaxy S24 series gets display update
Samsung has finally officially announced the update for more colorful displays on the Galaxy S24 series. The new firmware is coming to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra this month and will include a “Vivid” slider in the display’s advanced settings.
The menu is present in the current software, but lacks this dedicated slider. Samsung specifically states that the more natural default screen setting is not a bug. However, they want to give in to the feedback from users, some of whom wanted the strong Super AMOLED colors back.
Samsung also mentioned further optimizations to the camera functions. The wording is intentionally vague with upgrades to “device’s zoom functions, Portrait Mode, Nightography, rear camera video shooting capabilities and more”.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Instant Slow-Mo feature is coming to other devices
In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will soon pass on a feature called Instant Slow-Mo to other Galaxy phones. Instant Slow-Mo uses AI to convert a regular video into a slow-motion clip, eliminating the need to record a second video in native slow-mo mode. A Samsung community moderator has announced that Instant Slow-Mo will also be available on older Samsung devices.
Samsung will bring Instant Slow-Mo to eight devices, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+ and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Basically, devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer chipsets get the Instant Slow-Mo feature because they are fast enough to convert 60fps videos.
Samsung’s new video editor, which supports editing videos to add instant slow-motion effects, is also coming to the above-mentioned devices. In addition, the moderator announced that Samsung will improve Instant Slow-Mo by adding support for 10-bit videos, 480p videos and the .mov file format.
The moderator did not provide a time frame for Instant Slow-Mo to roll out on older devices. We expect it to be part of the One UI 6.1 update.
