It’s been a while since Samsung released the first One UI 6 beta for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 flagships. During this entire time, foldables felt like they were being held back. That’s over now. The One UI 6 beta program based on Android 14 is now available for both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip5.

If you want to test the new firmware, you must register your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 or Galaxy Z Flip5 for the beta via the Samsung Members app. The link is hard to miss as there is a large banner in the app advertising the beta. Ultimately, Samsung wants to collect as much feedback as possible in order to be able to develop a stable version that is as error-free as possible. According to some reports, if you don’t see the banner on your Samsung smartphone, you will have to uninstall the Samsung Members app and then reinstall it.
As soon as you tap on the corresponding banner, you have to agree to a few conditions and the over-the-air download of the beta update starts. For the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, Android 14 with One UI 6 has a size of 2.7 GB. It will probably be the same with the Flip5.
After installing the update, the Galaxy Z Fold5 displays build number F946BXXU1ZWJ2. The Galaxy Z Flip5 climbs up to version number F731U1UEU1ZWJ2. However, there is still a catch at the moment. So far, the new firmware for the Fold5 is only available in the USA and India. The same limitation could also apply to the Flip5.
