Samsung Galaxy S24 update brings adjustable Vivid mode
Samsung only started selling the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra last week. Nevertheless, the first customers have already reported problems with the screen modes of the new phones. According to several reports, the display in Vivid mode is not as colorful as expected, which Samsung has now admitted. Now the tipster Ice Universe reveals that Samsung is working on a solution after all.
The update is supposed to improve the vividness of the Samsung Galaxy S24 displays and even allow granular control over it. The first level is standard saturation, where the screen shows more vivid colors than in “Natural” mode, but not nearly as colorful as on Samsung’s previous models. If you flip the toggle switch towards the middle, the Galaxy S24 display comes closer to the normal Vivid mode of the Galaxy S23.
The third option is said to go even further. The toggle switch is located in the advanced settings of the Vivid color profile, which is part of the display settings. You can find it below the white balance options, which allow the user to manually change the RGB values of the display.
But the problems with the color settings are obviously not deterring too many customers. Samsung has already increased its delivery target for the Galaxy S24 series from 12 to 13 million units for the first quarter of 2024. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the model with the highest demand. Samsung reported a pre-order share of 65% for the top model with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, titanium frame and new telephoto camera.
