OnePlus 12: 5,400 mAh battery and wireless charging confirmed
The OnePlus 12 will finally be officially launched tomorrow after months of leaks. Thanks to several leaked advertising images and photos, the design is already largely known, including a similar camera design to its predecessor, the OnePlus 11. Today there was further confirmation of the rumors about the battery capacity. And apparently the reports are true – the cell will store a whopping 5,400 mAh, more than any OnePlus phone before.
In addition, the OnePlus 12 not only supports 100 watt wired charging, but also 50 watt wireless charging. The feature is making a comeback after being missing from the OnePlus 11. This means that the battery goes to 100% in 26 minutes via cable and in 55 minutes wirelessly.
The OnePlus 12 will launch in three variants: 16/512GB, 16GB/1TB and 24GB/1TB. It will carry the model number PDJ110 and will be based on a 6.82-inch X1 display from BOE. This is an 8T LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,168 pixels and a refresh rate of 1 – 120 Hz. The peak brightness should reach an enormous 4,500 nits in auto mode. PWM dimming at 2,160 Hz is also available.
The camera setup with a 50 megapixel main camera, a 48 megapixel ultra-wide cam and a 64 megapixel 3x telephoto lens is also impressive. On the front of the OnePlus 12 you get a 32 megapixel selfie camera.
OnePlus 12R also before launch
However, the OnePlus 12 may not be the only smartphone the Chinese company is introducing this month. A device with model number CPH2609 has been certified by the CQC (China Quality Certification Center) and IMDA – Singapore’s media and communications regulator. Here the camera setup consists of two 50 megapixel cameras, an 8 megapixel lens and a 16 megapixel front camera. Apparently this is the OnePlus 12R, which also supports wired charging with 100 watts.
All that remains to be revealed at tomorrow’s event is how much the OnePlus 12 will cost in China. The global launch is scheduled to start on January 23 in India.
