The Honor Magic6 Pro will have a periscope zoom camera with a resolution of 160 megapixels, not a 200 megapixel camera. The information comes from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Chinese micro-blogging network Weibo. Honor has reportedly decided against the 200 megapixel sensor and wants to stick with 160 megapixels instead.

In the meantime, the tipster also sheds a little more light on the OV50K sensor, which according to rumors will power the main camera on the Honor Magic6 series. Apparently it’s not a 1-inch sensor like the rumor mill initially claimed. Instead, the chip has a footprint of 1/1.3 inches, which is roughly the size of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200-megapixel main camera.

According to Digital Chat Station, the OV50K chip will deliver solid image quality, including through LOFIC technology. LOFIC sensors are based on a side overflow integration capacitor. Basically, it’s a stacked pixel design similar to the one in the Sony Xperia 1 V and the OnePlus Open / Oppo Find N3.

The Honor Magic6 Pro could soon start in China and later worldwide. The predecessor Honor Magic5 Pro came onto the market in March this year. All we know is that a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with various AI functions powers the Honor smartphone.
