Honor Magic6 gets new 1-inch OV50K camera sensor

According to a new tip, the Honor Magic6 will be the first smartphone to get the 1-inch OV50K sensor for the main camera.

The Honor Magic6 series will be released sometime next year, maybe a little earlier. We already know that a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset takes over the drive. But today another important detail emerged from the darkness – the main camera sensor. According to tipster Digital Chat Station active on Weibo, the chip is the OV50K and the Honor Magic6 will be the first smartphone on the market with the new sensor.

The size of the sensor is still a mystery. But given that its predecessor, the OV50H, has a 1/1.3-inch footprint, the rumors of the OV50K bringing a 1-inch design make perfect sense. This would make the OV50K the only 1-inch smartphone sensor currently on the market after the popular, albeit somewhat older, Sony IMX989.

The images above are from last month and show the Honor Magic6 Pro in a case to hide the design. In contrast to its predecessor, the Honor Magic5 Pro, the pill-shaped punch hole has moved to the middle. The Magic5 Pro has a 12 megapixel ultrawide selfie camera and a time-of-flight 3D sensor, which is also a likely tip for the 6 Pro.

In addition to the main camera, you can also see an LED flash and three other sensors on the back of the Honor phone. That would fit with the focus of the Honor Magic6 as a camera smartphone. The Magic5 Pro has three 50 megapixel cameras, so the successor is likely to have at least the same setup.
