Samsung Health app update: View medical records and track medications

The latest update to the Samsung Health app packs a punch. It makes the app an integrated platform that lets you access your health records, track medications, and track your daily food intake.

The Samsung Health app now allows users to access their medical records from clinics, hospitals, and major healthcare networks. Samsung has partnered with b.well Connected Health, which works with major electronic medical record (EMR) systems in the US (Cerner Health, Epic Systems, Veradigm).

You can also view your lab results and vitals in the Samsung Health app. The Health Records feature provides alerts and insights and can recommend medical tests based on your entire health history, including vaccinations, prescriptions, past hospital visits, and relevant test results.

This next feature was already introduced in the US last year – medication tracking. You can add medications to your list by scanning pill bottles with your smartphone’s camera. The app shows details of dosing schedules, missed doses, and other information about the various medications you are taking. This includes descriptions, side effects, warnings, drug interactions, etc. Medication tracking is now expanding to South Korea and India.
Additionally, the Samsung Health app can also scan food barcodes to make meal tracking easier. This helps you track calories and also allows you to view nutritional information (provided by fatsecret). This feature will initially roll out in the US and select European countries. This also includes France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland. More markets will be added later.
