Samsung is hosting a Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22nd, where the new foldable smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, the Z Fold8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip8, are expected to be unveiled. Thanks to previous leaks, we already know what these foldable smartphones will look like, but now, thanks to a teaser from BTS member J-Hope, we get our first glimpse of a working Fold8 in the wild.
Jung Ho-seok of the South Korean boy band BTS, better known as J-Hope, posted a short Instagram story teasing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8.

While the story doesn’t provide any new information, it does confirm previous leaks regarding the Fold8 design. Furthermore, it’s reasonable to assume that this was indeed the genuine Fold8, given Samsung’s previous collaborations with BTS.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 vs. Apple iPhone Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 will not be the successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7, but rather a new, standalone foldable phone with a wide design. Its form factor is very similar to the Huawei Pura X Max (see comparison here) and the Apple iPhone Ultra. The successor to the Fold7 will instead be the Z Fold8 Ultra.
Samsung has not yet released the technical specifications of its upcoming foldable smartphones; however, a recent leak from a reliable source confirmed several features and battery life. Furthermore, all foldable devices, as well as the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra 2, have already appeared in marketing images.
