Redmi K90 Ultra design and key specs revealed
After Xiaomi confirmed the existence of the Redmi K90 Ultra last week, its release date has now also been announced. At the same time, the company revealed the smartphone’s design and confirmed some of its key features.
The Redmi K90 Ultra will be unveiled in China on June 30th, the company confirmed in a post on Weibo.
Redmi’s upcoming K90 series smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. According to the manufacturer, however, it can match or even surpass devices equipped with the successor chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, in terms of gaming performance.
According to Redmi, this is thanks to the built-in active fan, which is supposed to lower the device’s temperature by up to 10 °C in just 100 seconds.
Redmi also announced that the K90 Ultra is fully dustproof and waterproof. The smartphone features a 6.83-inch display with narrow bezels, an aluminum alloy midframe, and a dual rear camera.
Redmi K90 Ultra to last 60 minutes at 60 FPS
The smartphone is shown in Space Silver in the teasers and features a raised, rectangular camera platform that also houses the cooling fan. Redmi claims that the K90 Ultra can maintain 60 FPS for 60 minutes at maximum graphics settings without throttling, while smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 reportedly start throttling after just 20 minutes.
The company also states that the Redmi smartphone can maintain 144 frames per second (fps) for up to 180 minutes in a MOBA game at an ambient temperature of 30°C without throttling. In comparison, devices with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are said to start throttling after just 35 minutes.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Redmi K90 Ultra will be priced around 3,000 CNY (390 euros/440 US dollars). We expect the company to release further details about the smartphone before its launch next week.
