Xiaomi Poco M8 Pro 5G and Poco M8 5G announced
Xiaomi has finally unveiled the new Poco M8 5G series, consisting of the Poco M8 and the Poco M8 Pro. The latest smartphones in the M series are equipped with Snapdragon chipsets.
Poco M8 5G
The Poco M8 is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip and features up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Unfortunately, it still runs HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, even though updates are now available for both versions. It also includes numerous AI features such as Google Gemini, Circle to Search and others.
It features a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits, 3,840Hz PWM dimming, 12-bit color depth, and Full HD+ resolution. The 50MP main camera is based on the Light Fusion 400 sensor, and there’s also a 2MP depth camera on the back. The front camera has a 20MP resolution.
The Poco M8 5G’s 5,520 mAh battery supports 45-watt fast charging. Other specifications include an in-display fingerprint scanner, IP66 certification, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an infrared sensor, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and expandable storage.
Poco M8 Pro 5G
The Poco M8 Pro 5G is equipped with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset It is equipped with the Poco IceLoop cooling system for improved heat dissipation. It also runs HyperOS 2 based on Android 15.
It features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits, support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The Poco M8 Pro 5G features a dual rear camera with a 50MP main sensor (Light Fusion 800) with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide camera. For selfies and video calls, the smartphone offers a 32MP front camera.
The Poco M8 Pro is equipped with a large 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery. It supports 100W wired charging and reverse charging up to 22.5W. The smartphone also features an in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 certification, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, 5G, GPS, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Prices
The Poco M8 5G is available in black, green, and silver. The 8GB RAM/256GB storage version costs €269/USD 229/£229, while the 8GB RAM/512GB storage version costs €299/USD 279/£259. However, thanks to early bird offers, the base model is already available for €229/USD 209/£189 and the 512GB model for €259/USD 259/£219.
The Poco M8 Pro 5G, on the other hand, costs €309/$299/£299 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant, while the 12GB RAM/512GB storage version costs €359/$359/£349. Thanks to early bird offers, the price for the Pro variant drops to €279/$279/£259 and €339/$339/£299, respectively. The smartphone is available in black, green, and silver.
The early bird offers are only valid until January 14th.
