Honor is currently preparing to launch its own thin and light premium smartphone, the Honor Magic 8 Air. The phone was teased by the brand’s president on Weibo and is expected to offer both Pro and Air features.

What exactly this means remains Honor’s secret for now. However, it could be a hint at a high-quality camera setup and a larger battery capacity compared to competitors like the Apple iPhone Air and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

First Honor Magic 8 Air renderings

The well-known tipster Ice Universe also shared a schematic diagram of the Honor Magic 8 Air, showing a brushed aluminum back with a camera guard similar to the Google Pixel series. However, this image is only a render; the final design of the device may differ.

According to the tip, the Magic 8 Air will be 6.3 mm thick, making it indeed thicker than the iPhone Air (5.6 mm) and the Galaxy S25 Edge (5.8 mm). Nevertheless, the Honor smartphone is said to be lighter than its competitors. According to the report, the Magic 8 Air will weigh only 158 grams, compared to 165 grams for the iPhone Air and 163 grams for the S25 Edge.

Furthermore, shared Li Kun, product manager at Honor, the picture in the upper right shows the Magic 8 Air next to the iPhone Air on a scale and illustrates the weight advantage of the Magic 8 Air.

Rumors suggest the Honor Magic 8 Air will have a 6.31-inch display, a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and will feature a 5,500 mAh battery with 80-watt fast charging. The device is expected to launch in China later this month.
