OnePlus 15R gets the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset
Last month, OnePlus began teasing three new products that will be officially unveiled on December 17: the OnePlus 15R, the OnePlus Pad Go 2, and the OnePlus Watch Lite. Today, the company revealed further details about the trio. Let’s start with the OnePlus 15R smartphone.
OnePlus 15R
The OnePlus 15R is based on a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. The display brightness can be reduced to 2 nits at night, or even to 1 nit when the “Reduce White Point” feature is enabled.
The smartphone will also utilize OnePlus’ new DetailMax Engine for photos, which premiered in the OnePlus 15 with three advanced technologies: Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and Clear Night Engine. All three features are also available in the 15R.
The OnePlus 15R is powered by Qualcomm’s recently unveiled Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. It is the first device worldwide to launch with this chipset. The 15R also features the G2 Wi-Fi chip and the Touch Response chip, both developed in-house. Incidentally, it’s based on the OnePlus Ace 6T for the Chinese market, images of which can be seen above.
OnePlus Pad Go 2
The OnePlus Pad Go 2 features a 12.1-inch display with a 2.8K resolution and a peak brightness of 900 nits. This suggests an LCD panel that, according to OnePlus, covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and supports Dolby Vision.
OnePlus Watch Lite
According to advertising, the OnePlus Watch Lite should last over 10 days on a single charge with typical use, which suggests that it does not run on Wear OS. The smartwatch offers over 100 sports modes, a heart rate monitor, a blood oxygen sensor, dual-band GPS, and comprehensive health features, including a 60-second wellness overview.
The OnePlus Watch Lite is available in premium Phantom Black, is made of stainless steel, is scratch-resistant, and weighs only 35 g with a thickness of 8.9 mm. It features a 1.46-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits in sports mode and 600 nits in everyday mode. The watch is compatible with Android and iOS phones.
