Amazon Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft introduced
Amazon has announced two new models in the Kindle Scribe series: the next-generation Amazon Kindle Scribe and the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft.
Amazon Kindle Scribe
The Amazon Kindle Scribe impresses with its sleek design with only 5.4 mm thick and weighing 400 g, it features an 11-inch, matte textured E Ink display with specially designed, miniaturized LEDs that fit into the thin frame.
Textured glass improves friction and provides a paper-like feel. A new display stack reduces parallax, so the stylus feels like it’s writing directly on the display without any gaps. The device is powered by a new quad-core chip with more memory and the company’s latest oxide display technology.
Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft
Next up is the Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. It features a color display with a color filter and nitrite LEDs, which make colors softer and less garish compared to LCDs. Amazon promises a battery life of several weeks.
The new models offer improved software experiences, including a brand-new home screen with a Quick Notes feature for quick note-taking. Here, you can also see your most recently opened books, documents, and notebooks. Thanks to integration with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, users can also access all their documents. A new AI-powered search searches notes. Starting early next year, you’ll be able to send and talk about your notes and documents to Alexa+.
Other features include the ability to export notes to OneNote as converted text or as an embedded image, colored pencils and highlighting with a choice of 10 pen colors or 5 highlighter colors, a new Shader tool for shading, and the ability to organize your documents, notebooks, books, and more in the same folder.
The new Kindle Scribe costs $500 (€426) for the standard model and $430 (€366) for the non-frontlit model. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft costs $630 (€537). All three models will be available in the US later this year and in the UK and Germany early next year.
