Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 with underwater sonar is here

Following the Watch GT 6 and GT 6 Pro and the MatePad 12 X 2025, the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 was launched today. It is the direct successor to last year’s first-generation Watch Ultimate and offers several important improvements. It features a similar design to its predecessor, with an updated zirconium-based liquid metal case combined with two-tone nanocrystal ceramic and sapphire crystal bezels.

You get a 1.5-inch LTPO2 AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits and 18% thinner bezels. The Ultimate 2 is water-resistant to 20 ATM (EN13319, ISO 22810:2010), allowing divers to wear the watch to depths of up to 150 meters—50 meters deeper than the first-generation Watch Ultimate.

That’s not all. The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 is the first smartwatch to support underwater sonar-based communication. This allows the Watch Ultimate 2 to send preset messages and emoticons to other watches within a 30-meter radius. It also supports an underwater SOS function that can alert devices within a 60-meter radius.

Huawei incorporates a Gap antenna system for more seamless connectivity in extreme conditions. The battery lasts up to 4.5 days with normal use and 11 days in power-saving mode.

The TruSense health system and X-Tap sensor provide fast and accurate health data from eleven different areas, including ECG. The watch runs HarmonyOS 5.1 and supports eSIM, dual-band GPS positioning, and BeiDou satellite messaging for users in China. You can also make calls and play music directly on the device.
