Oppo K13 Turbo and Turbo Pro with active fan and 7,000 mAh battery are here

With few exceptions, smartphones are cooled passively. The new Oppo K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro are among these rare exceptions and feature a tiny fan that keeps the chipsets cool even during long gaming sessions.

Oppo K13 Turbo series with fast chipsets

The Oppo K13 Turbo is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, a 4 nm chip from TSMC with eight Cortex-A725 cores and a Mali-G720 MC7 GPU.

The Oppo K13 Turbo Pro instead features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip – another 4 nm chip from TSMC with eight CPU cores. This includes a Cortex-X4 main core and seven Cortex-A720 processors, as well as an Adreno 825 GPU. The Pro also features faster UFS 4.0 storage (up to 512 GB), while the regular Turbo model features UFS 3.1 storage (up to 256 GB). Both models offer up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

Oppo K13 Turbo with 18,000 RPM fan

Whichever chip you choose, it’s cooled by a micro-radial fan that rotates at up to 18,000 RPM and improves heat dissipation by 20%. It features extremely slim fan blades (0.1 mm) and equally thin cooling fins. The heat sink is also connected to a 7,000 mm² steam chamber.

The most impressive feature of the design is the complete water resistance of the Oppo K13 Turbo and Turbo Pro – IPX6 (splash water), IPX8 (submersion), and IPX9 (jet water). The fan is also protected if the smartphone falls.

The different chipsets lead to slightly different temperatures. For example, the K13 Turbo (Dimensity 8450) still runs after 3 hours of playing a popular Moba game in a 25 ° C warm room with 119.9 fps and has a temperature of 43.3 ° C. In a similar scenario, the K13 Turbo reaches per 42.2 ° C.

Both smartphones actually last a long time with their large 7,000 mAh batteries. Oppo promises a carefree battery life of five years. The 80-W SupervoOC charger loads an empty battery in half an hour to up to 68 %. Bypass shop (operation via the socket) is also possible.

The two smartphones are equipped with 6.8-inch-oled displays with a resolution of 1,280 x 2,800 pixels and 10-bit color depth. They offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The panels reach a maximum refresh rate of 1,600 Hz.

For gaming, both smartphones utilize refresh rate, resolution upscaling, and Super HDR without putting additional strain on their GPUs.

The camera system features a 50 MP rear sensor (27 mm f/1.8 lens) with 4K video support at 60 frames per second. There’s a 2 MP depth sensor on the back. On the front, there’s a 16 MP selfie camera (23 mm f/2.4 lens) with 1080p at 30 frames per second. At least the Pro model has OIS on the main camera.

The smartphones are equipped with stereo speakers and X-axis linear motors for haptic feedback. They also have an under-display fingerprint reader (presumably optical).

The Turbo Pro supports Wi-Fi 7 (be), while the Turbo only supports Wi-Fi 6 (ax). Both models also support different 5G frequencies, which will be important once they are available worldwide.

The Oppo K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro are available for pre-order in China starting today and will be available starting Friday, July 25. Prices, which are quite reasonable for the performance and feature set, can be found in the table below.
