With just under two months left until the debut of the Apple iPhone 17 models, rumors have slowly intensified in recent weeks. Here are the most exciting reports, leaks, and rumors, sorted in order. Then there are some other, less promising changes to the upcoming smartphones from Cupertino, California.

Apple iPhone 17 Highlights

  • Ultra-thin Apple iPhone 17 Air – The Apple iPhone 17 Air is the most exciting rumor of 2025, as it’s the first true iPhone redesign in years. Samsung’s competitor, the super-thin Galaxy S25 Edge, follows a similar concept and feels pretty good.
  • Orange – Rumor has it that the iPhone 17 Pro will come in an orange shade. It will likely be more muted than before, with a copper hue, but it’s still a cool color we haven’t seen before.
  • 24-megapixel selfie camera – Better selfies and FaceTime video quality? There’s nothing to complain about. Rumor has it that the 24-megapixel camera will be available on all iPhone 17 models.
  • More RAM – The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air models are expected to have Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air: 9 colors, up to 12 GB RAM, instead of the current 8 GB. More RAM is always a plus for games and future AI features.
  • Battery life of the Apple iPhone 17 Pro – Rumor has it that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have the largest battery of any iPhone to date, with a capacity of approximately 5,000 mAh. This means it should last even longer than the maximum 33 hours of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
  • iPhone 17 Colors – The standard iPhone 17 is expected to come in green and purple, two colors we haven’t seen in a long time.
  • Larger iPhone 17 – The standard iPhone 17 will be 6.3 inches, matching the size of the iPhone 17 Pro.
  • ProMotion – Rumor has it that all four iPhone 17 models this year will feature ProMotion refresh rates of Support 120 Hz. This would eliminate one difference compared to the Pro models, but it would be a plus for buyers of the standard model.
  • Dual-tone Pro design – Rumor has it that the iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a dual-material design with more metal and less glass on the back. Anything that makes the iPhone more resistant to damage is a plus.
  • 48-megapixel telephoto lens – The iPhone 17 Pro is said to have an improved 48-megapixel telephoto lens for improved zoom shots.
  • A19 chip – The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air could get an A19 chip, while the iPhone 17 Pro models could get an A19 Pro. It’s still a 3-nanometer chip, but it will be faster and more efficient.
  • Improved Cooling – The iPhone 17 models are said to offer better heat dissipation, allowing the A19 chips to run faster and with less thermal throttling.
  • Better Display Coating – The iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro could have an anti-reflective, more scratch-resistant display. Anything that improves durability is a plus.
  • The camera bar – Rumor has it that both the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Air will feature a horizontal camera module that extends across the entire back of the iPhone.
  • From titanium to aluminum – Apple will be using a 17 Pro models apparently replace titanium with aluminum. Although aluminum is lighter than titanium, it is also significantly less stable.
  • Apple iPhone 17 Air C1 modem – The Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will receive Qualcomm modems, but rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will feature Apple’s C1 modem. It doesn’t support the fastest mmWave 5G speeds.
  • Offset Apple Logo – Due to the larger camera bar, dual-material design, and some rumored MagSafe changes, the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ models may have an Apple logo positioned lower on the device. In some models, it’s integrated into the design of the ‌MagSafe‌ ring and looks odd.
  • Apple Wi-Fi 7 Chip – Apple uses its own Wi-Fi 7 chip in all four ‌iPhone 17‌ models. While this could improve battery life, it’s primarily an internal change that allows Apple to bypass external suppliers.
  • Mechanical Aperture – Apple iPhone 17 Pro models could feature a mechanical aperture that allows users to adjust the amount of light reaching the lens. This is useful for depth of field on DSLRs, but its usefulness for smartphones remains to be seen, especially since Apple already has software-based tools for adjusting depth of field.
  • 8K Video Recording – 8K video recording could be available on the iPhone 17 Pro. This is a cool feature, but few users will need to shoot 8K video. It will also take up a lot of space and likely require recording with an external SSD.

Apple iPhone 17 Lowlights

  • Price Increases – The base price of the Apple iPhone 17 could increase due to tariffs. Apple is facing high prices in China and several other countries where the company manufactures iPhones. Price increases are uncertain, but likely.
  • iPhone 17 Air Colors – The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly be available in black, white, sky blue, and light gold, with this blue similar to the super-bright blue of the M4 MacBook Air. Some more exciting options should be available with the iPhone 18.
  • Only one camera on the iPhone 17 Air – Due to space constraints, the iPhone 17 Air will only have one camera on the back. There is no ultra-wet angle lens for macro or wide-angle shots, which restricts versatility.
  • battery life on iPhone 17 Air – due to the super -thin housing, the iPhone 17 Air needs a smaller battery. Apple makes optimizations, but it will not be able to keep up with the 17 and 17 per.
  • RAM on iPhone 17 -according to rumors, the standard iPhone 17 will only have 8 GB RAM, while the other models get 12 GB. In view of the rapid development in the memory-hungry AI functions that sounds little future-proof.
