The Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will be available in a total of nine color options, according to new information from Asia. According to tipster yeux1122, a regular on the Korean website Naver, accessory manufacturers are currently building the camera protection rings in matching colors for the new iPhones.

Accordingly, the Apple iPhone 17 is expected to be launched in black, silver, blue, green, and purple. This is consistent with an earlier report claiming that Apple is testing green and purple color options for the next iPhone. The iPhone 17 Air, on the other hand, will be available in black, silver, gold and blue.

The iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus are available in black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. On the Apple iPhone 17, pink and teal appear to be replaced by green and purple. Black, white, and ultramarine could become black, silver, and blue, but the basic palette of these three core colors should remain largely the same.

The iPhone 17 Air, which is intended to replace the iPhone 16 Plus, relies on much more subdued colors, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. This fits with Apple’s strategy of positioning the new Air as a more premium model with an ultra-thin design.

Apple iPhone 17 RAM Options

Another notable change concerns the RAM, or working memory, of the Apple iPhone 17 series. All four iPhone 16 models have 8GB of RAM, but recent supply chain reports suggest that Apple plans to increase the RAM of several iPhone 17 models. This could improve multitasking and gaming performance and make the devices more future-proof for upcoming Apple Intelligence and Machine Learning features.

According to a July 2025 report from industry sources in Asia, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will both launch with 12 GB of RAM. This would be a 50% increase over their predecessors. Apple is also expected to offer 12 GB for the first time in a non-Pro device, namely the iPhone 17 Air.

The base iPhone 17 model, however, is expected to remain at 8 GB of RAM—the same as the current iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Although Apple does not disclose the amount of RAM in its smartphones, the differentiation could be part of Apple’s strategy to widen the performance gap between entry-level and premium models.

The table above shows the RAM configurations of the iPhone 16 series compared to current expectations for the iPhone 17 series. Please note that iPhone 17 RAM configurations are based on analyst reports and leaks and may not reflect actual values. These will likely be confirmed by post-launch device teardowns.

Based on the company’s previous annual release cycles for its smartphones, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series in mid-September, along with iOS 26, which is currently in beta testing.
