Redmi Pad 2 with 90 Hz display and 9,000 mAh battery introduced
Today, the latest Xiaomi tablet was officially presented – the Redmi Pad 2 is here. As the name suggests, this is the successor to the entry-level Redmi Pad from 2022. The improvements between the two models are subtle: The new model features an IPS LCD display with a higher resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, is now 11 inches in size, and offers a faster refresh rate of 90 Hz. It is also brighter, reaching a maximum brightness of 600 nits, and supports stylus input via the Redmi Smart Pen.
The other important change is the chipset. The Redmi Pad 2 is equipped with the newer Helio G100 Ultra. However, the whole thing is a bit of a sham—the G100 is essentially a slightly higher-clocked Helio G99, which was already installed in the previous model. Therefore, similar performance can be expected.
The tablet is available with Wi-Fi only or with cellular connectivity. Both models have 4 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot for up to 2 TB of storage is also available. The cameras have a resolution of 5 MP on the front and 8 MP on the back.
For the software, Xiaomi has opted for the current HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. The battery now has 9,000 mAh, 1,000 mAh more than the Redmi Pad, but also only supports 18W charging via USB-C.
Redmi Pad 2 prices
The Redmi Pad 2 is available in Graphite Gray, Mint Green, and Lavender Purple. The Wi-Fi model starts at €165/£169 for the 4/128 GB version and goes up to €215/£219 for the 8/256 GB configuration. The version with 4G connectivity is currently only listed in the UK, where it costs £219 for the 4/128 GB and £259 for the 8/256 GB version.
