Apple iPhone 18 Pro probably won’t be frameless after all

The bezel-less phone is still a dream, even though screen bezels have gotten smaller and smaller in recent years. Apple has reportedly been working on a bezel-less iPhone display with Samsung Display and LG Display for many years. So far, rumors have pointed to 2026 and thus the Apple iPhone 18 Pro. But the prototypes so far are apparently still a long way from that.

Apple originally wanted to release a “bezel-less” iPhone in 2025 or 2026. A new report from Korea today says that even a 2026 release in the Apple iPhone 18 Pro is not likely at the moment. This is because the technology is simply not ready yet.
Apple apparently wants to keep a flat screen, but angle it at the sides. This sounds a lot like a quad-micro-curved design that many Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been launching recently. However, the plans for the Apple iPhone 18 Pro are said to be more in the direction of the design of the Apple Watch display. Either way, Apple doesn’t want to bend the screen so much that it distorts the edges.
Accordingly, there currently seem to be concrete plans, but so far they have failed due to the limits of the technical possibilities of mass production. Therefore, we probably shouldn’t expect a bezel-less iPhone before 2027.
